This one was extra exciting because – as you may be able to see from the picture – it wasn’t just a book. It came with a jigsaw!
The delivery truck has broken down, but the parcel needs to get to town. Follow the deliveryman on his vehicle adventure! Look very carefully to count and spot the different vehicles on every page.
This is a brilliant book that encourages children to find different vehicles – but also to count. So they look for two cars with no roof, three dirt bikes and so on. As well as looking for the vehicles on each page there are loads of other things to look for like a truck full of rubble or a hot air balloon that looks like an elephant. On top of all that, there’s a dog to follow through the book, as well as following the delivery driver.
This is one of those books you can spend as much time on as you like. If you’re pushed for time (or late to bed) you can just look for the vehicles on each page but if you’re staring into the face of a rainy afternoon, you can easily spend half an hour or more with it, looking for all the other things but also just spotting random things on each page. And of course, when you’ve finished reading the book, you can then go on and do the jigsaw.
S really enjoyed doing the jigsaw; I think all the different types of vehicle and the different coloured backgrounds make it a bit easier to do so she gets a real kick out of being able to do it mostly by herself.
Once you’ve done the jigsaw, you can turn it over and colour in the picture for yourself. We’ve not got that far yet – we’re really making the most out of this book/jigsaw combo!
At this point I would usually share a few more photos of the book to show you what the pages look like… but S has started taking it to bed with her! As I write this post, she is asleep, cuddling it. When she wakes me at 6 in the morning, we’ll probably be looking for cars and helicopters and aeroplanes and all sorts again!
This pack is brilliant for trips to Nana’s or to visit relatives with no children as we can bring along our own book and jigsaw to keep her entertained.

I love books with jigsaws and books about vehicles are a huge hit with little people of both sexes. This one looks really fun and I love that S takes it to bed with her!
