CBeebies has a new magazine out; Andy’s Amazing Adventures is aimed at 3-6 year olds and based on Andy Day’s three hit TV shows…
S loves magazines; she especially loves magazines that comes with toys attached to the front. She was really excited when this one came through the door for her earlier this week; not only was it a magazine with dinosaurs on the front, it was also the newly launched Andy’s Amazing Adventures Magazine. She loves to watch Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures and Andy’s Wild Adventures and instantly recognised Andy on the front cover.
This new magazine is based on Andy Day’s two hit TV shows, as well as the new show Andy’s Prehistoric Adventures.
The magazine ticks all the boxes for S: stickers, stories (this month: a Triceratops adventure), activities and colouring. There’s a pull-out dinosaur poster, and even a makeshift board game to make and play. There’s even some sneaky learning involved.
The magazine is aimed at children aged between 3 and 6, so it’s perfect for S who is nearly 4. There are lots of things for her to do on her own, and lots for us to do together; the perfect mix. It’s based upon the seven key areas of learning that support early years development and supports readers’ learning. At the moment S is just beginning to notice specific letters and punctuation so it’s good for her to see these things in something aimed at her, rather than just searching for something she recognises in my books and magazines.
Each magazine comes with a free gift, and if the first one is anything to go by, we’re in for some treats! S is obsessed with her dinosaur grabber, and has had it chomping up all sorts of things – even the smaller dinosaurs that came with it!
I think all children love dinosaurs dont they? This is the only dinosaur magazine created in collaboration with the BBC’s Natural History Unit, which to me means that I can trust anything S learns from this magazine will be facts rather than made up hoo-har! The magazine is billed as “an exciting voyage of discovery for little ones” and thus far, that seems to hold true! We’re loving our time spent together on the magazine, working through the puzzles and activities and learning new things.
Andy’s Amazing Adventures is available in newsagents now.
We were sent a copy of the magazine for review, but all words and opinions are our own.
