We were asked to review the new range of Half-Shell Heroes Squeeze ‘Ems, available from Flair.

Half-Shell Heroes is the TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, for those who don’t remember them first time around) range for younger children, so they’re more cartoon-like and child friendly than the older toys you might have seen around. This is great because S loves the TV show but is sometimes scared by the darker aspect of the cartoon.

S was really excited when this toy arrived for her! She’s a big fan of watching “Ninja Turtles” on TV, and Mikey is her favourite one because he’s so funny. The Mikey Squeeze ‘Em comes with nunchucks too, just like the character in the show.

Squeeze Ems are hilarious, cartoon-like characters that talk when you squeeze them – as well as their eyes and tongues popping out. Here, I’ll let S demonstrate for you:

Anyone with children will know that eyes popping out and tongues going “bleuuhhhh” are a massive win. What makes these really funny is that they shout for a long as you’re squeezing them – so a word will just be stretched out into one long squeal. S finds this hysterical. The harder you squeeze, the higher they shout and burp. Who doesn’t love a kids’ toy that shouts and burps!

For me these toys are more like the TMNT cartoon that was around when I was younger – much less threatening and suited to a younger audience than the current version which features better graphics but also seems a lot darker than I remember; the turtles seem less cuddly!

The Half-Shell Heroes Squeeze ‘Ems are available in either Mikey (orange bandana) or Leo (blue bandana, don’t you know anything?), with an RRP of £24.99.

You can also join the Turtles Toys Collectors Club which is something all children love to do, isn’t it?

NB we were provided with this toy for the purposes of review, but all words and opinions are our own.
