We all like to give our homes a bit of a facelift every now and then, don’t we – but we don’t always have the time to make major changes. With Christmas just around the corner many of us will be hosting friends and family in our homes for the first time in a long while, and we’ll want our homes to look their best. Here are some quick tips to help you update your home without a complete refurb:
Refurbish the front door
It’s the first part of your home anyone sees, and it can make a lasting impression. You don’t need to splash out on a new door; you could paint the door you already have, or even just update the door knocker, letterbox or doorbell. Small changes can make a big difference.
Add some natural wooden accessories
Natural wood can instantly update your home and make it look smarter. Olive World Co have some beautiful accessories which can help you to really put your stamp on your home. The great thing about natural wood is that it’s timeless; it doesn’t go out of fashion and as it ages it just looks more classic.
Add a splash of colour
Painting cabinet doors in the kitchen or a bright rug in the hall can really liven your home up and make it seem fresh and inviting. There are some great new paints on the market these days, which will allow you to paint almost anything – even your fridge! Choose a colour and let your imagination run wild!
Add a console table
Console tables are great for adding a touch of class. You can use them to display ornaments, and the space beneath them can be used for anything from shoes to children’s toys – both of which would look like messy clutter if left out on their own. Add some greenery
A few plants here and there can make a big difference to the feel of a home. Don’t worry if you’re not green fingered or your house doesn’t get much natural light; there are plenty of hard wearing plants that will be fine with low levels of light. A zizi plant or pothos will both be a great addition to your home and require minimal care and attention
Make sure it smells good
Many homes can suffer with lingering smells both indoors and outdoors. With people wanting to spend more time outdoors or with windows open this year thanks to Covid, you’ll want to make sure ther eare no nasty whiffs lurking around. Wastewater is one of those things that can really cause a problem smell that’s hard to take care of with conventional home cleaning products. Update your lighting
This is a really simple change that can make a big difference. Just buying a new light fitting – or even just a new lampshade – can make all the difference. As well as this you could look into getting a new lamp or stringing some fairy lights to change the entire mood of the room.
